Today was my convocation and it made me realise a very deep truth about life. People often appreciate things in life after those things, moments, events, people have already passed but people who actually are going through the moment have stopped living it in the present and appreciating it.
Imagine yourself when you were 12 years old when you used to cry for being sent to school daily when you used to bawl and cry your eyes out but now go back to your 10th grade's last day when you, all your friends cried as it was your last day at school and now randomly the same school you didn't want to go becomes a place of comfort, memories, nostalgia and the feeling of "i would go again if I had a chance to" comes back.
Same goes for university, you are tired of daily attendance, frequent random events, random clubs forming daily, some or the other activity going on and prefer staying at home to avoid and you think like all of this is a waste of time but then time flies past and now again it's your last day of college, it's the same feeling again which hits which had hit you during the last day of school. Now you start missing things about college, the lectures, the experience, the events, the clubs etc but you never learnt appreciating and living in the present moment, saying yes to every opportunity that presented but by the time you realise that all this would never return it's already too late.
People going to concerts just to record the whole thing instead of actually enjoying it, people going to restaurants clicking pictures of food without actually enjoying and appreciating food is what is happening now a days. People just want to document things so that "they remember in the future" or to "make memories" but memories aren't made by just recording things but are made by actually living the memories, the moment.
So from now to bring an actual change start living in the moment, be present at the moment, try to say yes to opportunities that come on your way, try to be optimistic in looking at things and see your memories and nostalgia change into something you would've never experienced. You'll have actual memories instead of recorded archives, you'll have actual stories and experiences to share (only con is you'll also have a huge problem in being able to detach emotionally). So start living in the moment, explore new things, live in the moment, be optimistic, take up new opportunities on the way and see your life change.
